One queen was set to go home this week, but Heidi N Closet's decision to leave the competition spared her. Will he be able to recover?
8. Heidi N Closet (Last Week: 4)—GIVE UP
This extremely unsatisfying and sudden end to Heidi's journey leaves me with a lot of "what if?" questions about this season. Heidi was good in most of the challenges and served better than in season 12, but she didn't really get credit for it from the judges. She would probably be safe during this week's Snatch game and I'm not sure what it would take for her to escape the pack. Still, she was one of only two queens (along with Jessica Wild) that I could really see challenging Jimbo for the crown at this point. Heidi might not have won if she had stayed, but I think it would have been a fight. With her gone, I feel like this season is only going to get bigger.
7. Kahanna Montrese (last week: 6)
Like Vanity Milan onCanada vs. the Worldbefore her, Kahanna can only thank Heidi's withdrawal for still being in the competition. Heidi staying here wouldn't change the bottom two this week (yes, I disagree with Alexis Michelle on this one) and Kahanna would be sent home by group vote. It would also be a well-deserved elimination, after Kahanna's unusual take on drag mother Coco Montrese, as well as her no-reveal Reveal Yourself runway look.

My feelings for Kahanna haven't changed much since the season started, to be honest. She is a strong performer after perfecting her skillsRuPaul's Drag Race Live!, but she lacks the comedic skills to really pull it offAll stars. What's more, while her runway looks are impressive, they all also sit in a tight range of girls. Her stage experience could help her get through next week in Rusical, but the next comedic challenge she faces will likely be the end of the line for Kahanna.
6. Jessica Wild (last week: 3)
I've long defended Jessica's portrayal of RuPaul in the original Snatch game. It was just enough out of pocket to be perfect—an energy that her look at Iris Chacón could harness. She was simply too one-note and not interactive enough with the other queens. And while her chicken-and-egg reveal runway was pretty sweet (and had actual revelations!), I worry that Jessica is relying too much on that one episode in her season 2 where she played a chick run for her hip brand. Remember you won the rocker girl challenge, Jess! We hope to see that musical savvy return during Rusical next week. Meanwhile, even without Heidi's termination, there was no way Jessica was going home this week. She had a huge difference in voices, and her best friend Jimbo would never send her home.
5. LaLa Ri (last week: 5)
LaLa didn't do anything wrong this week, but I'm starting to wonder when we'll see her break away from the pack. Her take on Sukihana was the definition of a safe Snatch Game performance, and her runway look expanded the definition of what a "reveal" is. While LaLa remains a great presence in the confessional, at some point a queen has to have her star turned where the judges can see her—and not just play to the crowd and her fellow queens. We didn't see LaLa in Season 13's Rusical; maybe this could be her chance to become oneAll stars 8leading lady?
4. Kandy Muse (last week: 2)
It's not Kandy's fault that Heidi quit - it was Heidi's choice. Of course, if Kandydidto say what Heidi accused her of, wouldn't be a great look for the Queen of New York. However, I tend to believe that Kandy said something more along the lines of Jimbo being strong competition, and Heidi just extrapolated from there. Regardless, trust between Kandy and Jimbo was broken, and Kandy's alliance structure suddenly fell apart. (She's technically still in an alliance with Jessica, but since Jess is so close to Jimbo, I'm not sure how strong a relationship that will prove to be.) So far, I'd say Kandy has been able to hold on to her own star power this season. . Her runways were solid but not spectacular, and none of her challenge performances were stellar enough to give her the win. With only seven queens remaining and her place less secure, now is the time to step it up in a big way.
3. Jaymes Mansfield (last week: 8)
I'll give Jaymes credit: although her cadence as Jennifer Coolidge was a little too fast, she had a weaker voice and comically kept up with the best of them. In a particularly weak group, she shone more and more. It is said that I amveryglad Michelle Visage finally said what's been obvious all season: Jaymes' runways are mostly "the same." (Of course Ross Mathews chimed in to contradict Michelle — I get more and more irritated with him every time he appears on a panel.) It seems to me that Jaymes is playing for Rudemption more than winning right now: to prove she's good atDrag Race, and should have stuck around longer in season 9. I don't agree with that. But if he wants to make it to the end of this race, he needs to show that he can compete atAll starslevel, both in challenges and on the runway.

2. Alexis Michelle (last week: 7)
I have ridden hard for Alexis this season, and I think she was a solid second place this week. But I understand why she couldn't quite pull out the win this week. Although she was quite good as Bea Arthur - a choice perfectly aligned with Ru's interests - the character required the same stage demeanor and delivery of all her jokes. The parts where she interacted with the other queens (especially taking a cigarette from Kandy's Renee Graziano) were great, but mostly she had to be encouraged to do it. She was not dominant in the way that Jimbo was throughout the performance. And while I liked herInto the forest-inspired by the witch runway reveal, it lacked the shock factor of Jimbo's revelation about Adam and Eve. Alexis proved she's a contender this week, but she may need next week's Rusical to finally get the win.
1. Jimbo (last week: 1)
Honestly, I think it could be almost anything but a coronation. It's weird to say only five episodes into a 12 episode season, but Jimbo has proven to be an incredible force. She won three of these first five challenges and scored a high ball. (She was sure about the girl group challenge, but she didmanybetter at this than at the same challenge atCanadian Drag Race.) She might stumble at Rusical next week, but it's still so early in the season that I doubt anyone will try to cut her if given the chance—especiallyafter Kandy and Heidi's mess this week. After all, if you eliminate the leader, you become the next target. Pangina Heals proved just that when she threw in JimboGreat Britain against the world.
If she can survive Rusical, I really don't see the challenge proving to be Jimbo's undoing. And if you're about to cry, "But she's lip syncing!" - I hear you, but to quote Gigi Goode, I don't have the same concerns. Trixie Mattel wonAll stars 3without a single Lip Sync for Your Legacy win, after all. And while this season will be some sort of final lip sync, as we saw inAll stars 7, it only takes a few choice words to negate his importance: "Based on your performance throughout the season..." No, my friends, I think Jimbo has this. And this is the earliest since Symone that I've felt comfortable calling it that soon.
